ZAMBOANGA CITY - Hosts of a local television show have criticized Councilor Monsi dela Cruz for allegedly violating health protocols when he celebrated his 66th birthday at the City Council.
The celebration was attended by government employees and other barangay officials, including incumbent council members, supporters and well-wishers, according the hosts of TV 11’s Dateline Teleradyo.
Councilman Kim Elago, who was among those invited in the birthday celebration, told Dateline Teleradyo that he arrived late and only spent about 5 minutes and returned to his office after getting his food. He said his staffs told him that many people attended the birthday celebration.
Television hosts claimed many viewers had reacted to their news and was telling them that Dela Cruz and others who violated the Covid health protocols should be fined or at least investigated to be fair with ordinary people who was forced to pay fines every time they violate the health protocols.
Dela Cruz, who at times was not wearing a face mask and face shield, had been seen greeting his visitors, and even took pictures alongside with them and violating physical distancing.
The former priest-turned-politician also celebrated his birthday at home and among those who visited him were Congressman Mannix Dalipe and his brother Councilor John Dalipe, and former lawmaker Celso Lobregat.
Dela Cruz thanked the Dalipe brothers
and Lobregat for visiting him, and also those who greeted him on his birthday.
