The City Social Welfare and Development Office said it has distributed food packs to families displaced by flash floods in Barangay Tictapul. It said the distribution of the food assistance was done in coordination with the Barangay Council, adding it continues to assess other areas devastated by the floods.
Tictapul Barangay Information Officer Isniba Omar Abdurasid said some 200 houses were destroyed by the flash floods following heavy rains last week that also destroyed rice paddies there and in Barangays Vitali and Licomo.
City Agriculturist Carmencita Sanchez reported to Climaco that some 44 hectares of rice fields were destroyed by the floods and affected at least 34 farmers. (Zamboanga Post)
