COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro Parliament approved on second reading via viva voce Parliament Bill No. 31, a measure that will offer courses focused on specialized baccalaureate and postgraduate degree programs for Islamic and Arabic studies.
Once enacted, the proposed
Bangsamoro Kulliyyah for Islamic Studies will repeal Muslim Mindanao Autonomy
Act No. 164, or the Regional Madrasah Graduate Education Act of 2003.
The Parliament also adopted five
resolutions and introduced two measures on the first reading on November 20.
Among the resolutions passed, the Parliament urged the Senate of the
Philippines and the House of Representatives to prioritize the creation of the
National Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission for the Bangsamoro.
They also urged President Ferdinand
Marcos Jr. to certify the bill as urgent, emphasizing the importance of
transitional justice and reconciliation in the region.
The Parliament also extended
congratulations and commendations to Bai Rehana Lauban for placing ninth in the
October 2023 Fisheries Technology Licensure Examination and to all Bangsamoro
passers.
Edison Morales received a
posthumous award for his outstanding contributions to educational development
in Cotabato City and the Bangsamoro region.
Meanwhile, the Bangsamoro Tourism
Promotion Act of 2023 and the Bangsamoro Electrification Administration Act of
2023 were introduced on the first reading. (LTAIS-Public Information,
