COTABATO CITY -The Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management's Subcommittee G, chaired by Deputy Floor Leader Atty. Raissa Jajurie, turned its focus to the proposed budget of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), totaling P834.2 million for the fiscal year 2024.
Land survey, environmental
regulatory compliance, enforcement of natural resources policy, mineral
resources and geosciences, biodiversity management, and energy management will
all continue to be priorities for the ministry in 2024.
These programs highlight the
ministry's efforts in environmental conservation, sustainable resource
utilization, and the responsible management of the region's energy sources.
The MENRE is the primary agency
responsible for the exploration, utilization, management, conservation,
protection and sustainable development of the region’s environment, natural
resources, and potential energy sources.
The subcommittee's scrutiny comes
after MENRE outlined its physical and financial accomplishments since 2022. The
detailed overview provides insights into the ministry's utilization of previous
budgets. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
