Duterte son Paolo calls for an investigation into ‘Bikoy’ confession
DAVAO CITY – Presidential son Paolo Duterte has called for an investigation into the admission of self-confessed member of a drug syndicate, Peter Joemel Advincula, who linked the opposition to a plot to unseat his father and install Vice President Leni Robredo as president and Senator Antonio Trillanes as vice president.
Advincula, who claimed to be “Bikoy,” the hooded man in the viral videos “Ang Totoong Narcolist,” surrendered to the police Thursday and said all the accusations in the videos were all lies and that he was promised P500,000 by his recruiter to malign Duterte and his family, but he had not been paid.
He now accused Trillanes and Senator Risa Hontiveros and the Liberal Party, among others, as allegedly behind the videos as part of a campaign to oust Duterte.
Paolo, in his Facebook page, said: “From the very start, it was clear that the Bikoy videos were fabricated with a narrative taken straight from the playbook of people whose desire is to destroy our name and our reputation. All the lies presented were also meant to crush the trust of the Filipino people in the authorities and inspire public disgust against the government — truly the handiwork of people who want to undermine the Duterte administration.”
“Without a doubt, as I have said before, Senator Antonio Trillanes was behind it. And now that many names have also surfaced, to include Sen. Risa Hontiveros and several lawyers, I believe a proper investigation is in order,” said Paolo, who was elected congressman in Davao City in the recently concluded midterm elections.
Prior to his surrendered on May 23, Advincula issued a statement at the office of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines reiterating his accusations against Duterte, including Paolo and close aide Bong Go, who denied all the allegations against them.
Trillanes strongly denied Advincula’s allegations and said he would file charges against Advincula. “I deny the allegations made by this Bikoy character. This could be another ploy to harass the opposition. For now, I will be consulting with my lawyers so that we could also file the appropriate charges against him,” Trillanes said.
The Liberal Party also denied Advincula’s accusations. (Mindanao Examiner)

Court junks Trillanes plea to stop trial on rebellion raps
THE COURT of Appeals or CA turned down the plea of former putschist turned Senator Antonio Trillanes who is facing rebellion charges before the Makati Regional Trial Court.
The CA's Ninth Division through Associate Justice Apolinario Bruselas Jr. denied the application for a temporary restraining order filed by Trillanes’ counsel. "We may not temporarily restrain or preliminarily enjoin the prosecution of the criminal action for rebellion at this stage because to do so would be to grant the principal prayer for certiorari without the benefit of hearing," the CA ruled.
Associate Justices Myra Garcia Fernandez and Geraldine Fiel Macarang concurred with the decision. The Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 150 resets Trillanes' hearing from March 20 to May 27.
Judge Elmo Alameda granted the request of Trillanes' counsel Reynaldo Robles to defer the hearing, citing that he has a previous commitment to appear in another trial.
Robles also serves as defense counsel of former Bureau of Corrections chief Franklin Bucayu, one of detained Senator Leila de Lima's co-accused on drug charges filed before the Muntinlupa RTC Branch 256.
In September last year, Alameda issued a warrant of arrest against Trillanes for rebellion over his involvement in the 2007 Oakwood mutiny. The reinstatement of charges came after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation 572 which declared the former Navy Lt. Senior Grade’s amnesty as void from the beginning.
