Troops seize MILF weapons from 6 men, then free all them

COTABATO CITY – Government troops seized automatic weapons from a village chieftain and five members of the former rebel group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) at a military checkpoint in southern Philippines, but freed all the men without charges.

3 patay sa pamamaril sa Cotabato


HINDI NA umabot ng buhay sa pagamutan ang 3 lalaki, isa sa kanila ay barangay kagawad ng Cotabato City matapos silang pagbabarilin ng mga di-kilalang armado.

Napatay ng 2 lalaki si Barangay Kagawad Nasser Guimba ng Rosary Heights 11 at batay sa ulat ng Cotabato City Police Office, naganap ang pamamaril sa labas mismo ng barangay hall.

P477 milyon, pinsala sa matinding init sa North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Bagama't hindi pa napabilang ang probinsya ng North Cotabato sa tatlong kategorya na dry condition, dry spell at drought ay aabot na sa P477 milyon ang halaga ng inisyal na pinsala sa mga pananim sa iba’t-ibang bayan sa lalawigan.

Ito ay ayon kay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Warning and Action Officer Engr. Arnulfo Villaruz  na nagsabing abot na din sa 8,500 mga magsasaka ang naapektuhan ng tag-tuyot at hindi pa kabilang dito ang ilang magbubukid sa North Cotabato.

Giit pa ni Villaruz, posibleng sa susunod na mga linggo ay madadagdagan na ang apat na mga bayan na nagdeklara ng state of calamity kung patuloy ang tag-tuyot. Una ng nagdeklara ng state of calamity ang mga bayan ng Pikit, Aleosan, Mlang at Alamada.

Sinabi ni Villaruz, nagpapatuloy ang kanilang mga binibigay na ayuda sa mga magsasaka gaya ng pagbibigay ng bigas. Magbibigay na din ng mga seedlings ang Provincial Government kung magsisimula na ang tag- ulan sa susunod na mga buwan.

Paalala naman ni Villaruz sa mga mamamayan na iwasang magsunog dahil na din sa sunod-sunod na grassfire sa lugar at maging ang pagtapon ng upos nga sigarilyo lalo na kung malakas ang hangin.(Rhoderick BeƱez)
