Zamboanga bans pork from Luzon, Mindanao provinces
ZAMBOANGA CITY has banned the entry of pork from Luzon and many provinces in Mindanao where there are reported cases of the African swine fever or ASF.

LOCAL MAYOR Beng Climaco signed Executive Order 543–2020 to strictly implement the Department of Agriculture guidelines of zoning and protocols with regards to the movement, sale, and trade of hogs, pork and pork products to contain the spread of African swine fever (ASF) in the country.

African swine fever now in Mindanao, Zambo tightens watch
MAYOR BENG Climaco has reminded authorities to strictly keep a tight watch on the he entry of processed pork products and meat to prevent the spread of African swine fever following the outbreak of the fatal hog disease in Davao City and nearby provinces.
At least 200 pigs had died from the disease in two villages in Davao City and 13,000 more in Davao Occidental’s Don Marcelino town, and dozens more in Sulop town in Davao del Sur and in South Cotabato’s Koronadal City.

PEF, Coke Foundation sign water project for Mindanao
SULTAN KUDARAT – The Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) and Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines Inc. (CCFPI) signed a new partnership agreement to boost water supply for thousands of villagers in three project sites in Mindanao.
The second phase of the Scaling Up Program for Social Enterprises on Water Services or SCALE UP Water will provide residents of Kalamansig and Lebak towns in Sultan Kudarat, and Bansalan in Davao del Sur with potable water through a grant of P12.7 million.

Lalaki, sumuko matapos mapatay ang utol, isa pa sa Davao Sur
KIDAPAWAN CITY - Boluntaryong sumuko sa mga otoridad ang isang 33-anyos na lalaki na siyang pumatay sa kanyang sariling kapatid at security guard sa bayan ng Santa Cruz sa Davao del Sur.
Ayon sa pulisya, nakunsensya umano si Jaime Panerio sa kanyang nagawa kung kaya't nag-desisyong sumuko.
Nabatid na naganap ang krimen sa Sitio Lower Pogpog sa Barangay Sibulan nitong Abril 1 lamang. Si Panerio ay residente ng Barangay Tinongtongan sa bayan ng Bansalan at selos ang umano ang ugat ng krimen.
Kinilala naman ng pulisya ay mga biktima na sina Mitchie Panerio, 28, isang magsasaka; at Elmon Galugas, 31. At batay sa inisyal na pagsisiyasat, ang mga biktima, kasama ang kanilang mga kaibigan, ay masayang nag-iinuman sa bahay ng suspek na noon ay wala doon.
Habang nasa kalagitnaan ng pagiinuman ang mga biktima ay biglang dumating ang suspek at sinipa nito ang pintuan at ginulpi ang dati nitong kasintahan na si Judecel Avergonsado na naroon rin. Hindi pa nasiyahan sa ginawa ay bumunot pa ito ng .357 Magnum revolver at binaril si Galugas at ang nakababatang kapatid.

Karpintero, kisay sa kuryente
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Nangisay hanggang namatay ang isang 38-anyos na karpintero matapos na makuryente sa inaayos na linya ng kuryente sa rooftop ng ginagawang bahay sa Purok Roxas Barangay Tiguman sa Digos City.
Kinilala ang biktima na si Alexander Munsad Artiaga, may asawa at nakatira saBarangay Tukson. Nangyari ang insidente pasado alas-6:00 ng gabi kamakalawa.
Ayon sa inisyal na imbestigasyon ng mga otoridad, nakuryente ang biktima dahil sa kawad ng kuryente sa ginagawang bahay na pagaari ni Totong Lagare.
Bigla umanong nangisay ang biktima hanggang sa mahulog ito. Mabilis namang isinugod si Artiaga sa pinakamalapit na ospital pero ideneklarang patay ng mga attending physician. (Rhoderick Beñez)

Davao region get P15-B investments
DAVAO CITY – Davao Region is on track to corner at least P15 billion in investments in 2018 despite martial law jitters, an official of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.
DTI Assistant Regional Director Edwin Banquerigo said Davao already captured investment projects worth P14.8 billion as of January to November this year. He said of the total projects, majority are in Davao City worth P14.1 billion, followed by Davao del Norte at P687.4 million.
“This is an indication that the region is right for investment,” Banquerigo said, adding, concerns on martial law had initially spooked the business sector, but these proved to be a non-factor as more businesses remain bullish with Davao region's economic potentials. He said optimism for the region's business climate is expected to drive more investments well into 2019.
DTI-11 records show that based on the business name registration alone, Davao City has close to 10,334 new business registrants as of November 2018. “If you move around, there are many infrastructures everywhere. The skyline is changing very fast. Increase in the number of hotels is popping up,” Banquerigo said.
He said the major projects in the region in 2018 included water supply, sewage and water management worth P13,324.67 billion; real estate activities with P665.30 million; human health and social science with P376.5 million; agriculture, forestry and fishing with P325.97 million; administrative and support services with P121.25 million; and accommodation and food service activities with P14.8 million.
He also noted an increase in investment promotion activities, such as the holding of trade fairs, forums, and capacity building workshops. Banquerigo said trade promotion activities have resulted in the realization of big infrastructure projects, as the Davao South Greenspace Eco-Industrial Park where a 450-hectare lot in Astorga, Davao del Sur will be developed into a seaport that will host a shipbuilding facility, logistics center, and a business park and information technology hub.
Meanwhile, the Compostela Valley Business and Investment Conference, this year, raked in a total investment lead worth P258.08 million from 15 firms. The business sector also negotiated and booked sales amounting to PHP56.704 million while new and expansion projects in Compostela Valley province are also expected in the areas of processing, production, real estate, and infrastructure development.
The Davao cacao and coffee products also emerged as new export products to Japan following the business deals forged during the trade shows in Japan on June 13-15 in Tokyo, and in Nanning, China, on September 9-16. Banquerigo underscored the need for Davao City and the rest of the region to intensify investment promotion activities while offering investors with attractive incentive schemes. (Lilian Mellejor)
