OFFERING 24-hour government services similar to a vulcanizing shop. My cousin Homer Balisi Rigunan from Baguio City recently shared with me the other day his observation of a vulcanizing shop that operates round the clock to cater to customers who may need assistance at any hour of the day.  He said that it is  possible to extend this concept to national government offices, including local government units (LGUs).

Finding Hope and Renewal in Easter’s Promise

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a fundamental tenet of Christianity, serving as the cornerstone of the faith. Without this pivotal event, Christianity would be devoid of its central message of redemption and the promise of eternal life. The resurrection embodies the hope and assurance of life beyond the earthly realm, providing believers with a sense of purpose and salvation. In its absence, Christianity would be reduced to a mere ethical system or philosophical doctrine, stripped of its core message of deliverance and spiritual renewal.

Unlocking opportunities through LGU-sponsored dorms for hometown students in Metro Manila

LOCAL GOVERNMENT Units (LGUs) should make it as one of their top priorities to build dormitories for students from their respective hometowns who are studying in Metro Manila. The demand for student accommodations in the city is on the rise, with an increasing number of students coming from different provinces to pursue their education. By constructing dormitories, LGUs can provide a safe and affordable housing option for these students who are away from home. This initiative will not only alleviate the stress on students and their families in finding suitable living arrangements while attending college, but also contribute to the overall well-being and success of these students.

Aesop’s Fable of the Two Crabs and the Art of Conflict Resolution in Politics

THE ON-GOING dispute between the Senate and the House of Representatives regarding the proposed amendments to the 1987 Philippine Constitution mirrors Aesop's Fable of The Two Crabs. These two branches of government are expected to collaborate effectively, akin to a dynamic duo. However, their recent behavior more closely resembles Aesop's two crabs, awkwardly walking in opposite directions, or feuding siblings quarrelling over the last slice of pizza.

THERE ARE some government employees who lack knowledge about their duties, responsibilities, the laws governing their employment, and their obligations, among other things. These employees should undergo an orientation session with their respective human resource offices to familiarize themselves with the government's expectations.

Comparing Approaches: Amending or revising an ordinance and constitution

DURING THE Barangay Seminar on local legislation in Marikina City, I was approached by a Barangay Kagawad who posed a question regarding the difference between amending and revising an existing ordinance. His main question: When it comes to the process of amending or revising an ordinance, is it comparable to the process of amending or revising the constitution?

Unveiling the complex nexus of potentiality and facticity in our society

THROUGHOUT OUR history, a recurring pattern can be observed in the prevalence of societal problems. One notable instance is the tendency of our voters to repeatedly elect the same individuals into positions of power. This phenomenon raises profound questions about the persistence of voter behavior and the lack of substantial change in the political landscape. Furthermore, crimes and corruption persistently afflict our society, despite concerted efforts to combat them. The government has implemented numerous laws in an attempt to address these issues, yet they persist in various insidious forms.

The Power of Speaking Out: Silence as a Tool for Oppression

The engrossing book "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," written by Ken Kesey, explores the turbulent world of a mental facility in the 1960s. The Commercialization Charade: Unveiling Christmas True Essence

The first Christmas recounts the humble birth of Jesus in a manger to his parents, Mama Mary and St. Joseph, who were of modest means. It serves as a powerful reminder of Jesus' remarkable humility and his compassion for the poor and marginalized. This depiction serves as a poignant reminder to believers of the importance of values such as humility, simplicity, and the significance of the less fortunate in the eyes of God.

Monads and LGUs’ interconnectivity

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz is a philosopher I really like when I was in college. Leibniz worked in the fields of mathematics, philosophy, science, and diplomacy. Because of his expertise in a variety of subjects, he has been referred to as the "last universal genius".

Radio station for Senior Citizens

AS THEY enter their sunset years, senior citizens are entitled to a variety of advantages and privileges. A 20% discount on numerous goods and services is one such benefit. This concession not only recognizes their services to society, but it also allows them to make the most of their limited resources.
